FREE KINDER 2023

What free kindergarten means at OCK

Through the  Best Start, Best Life reform, OCK will be offering free kinder in our 3 and 4 year old programs for 2023.  This will save families up to $2,500 for each child enrolled in a participating funded kindergarten program.  We offer sessional kinder for  3-year-old children (7.5 hours per week) and for 4-year-old children (15 hours per week). We do not offer additional hours or sessions. There is a small charge for special events.

What is included in “free Kinder”:

What costs “free kinder” does not cover:

What Are Special Events ?

Special Events are outside of the weekly program and can include incursions (inside kinder) and excursions (outside of kinder). Events are chosen based on the program and children’s interests and are announced during the term.

Special Event Costs

sand pit play at Ormond Community Kindergarten

3-Year-old kinder: $75 per year

Green and Red Group (3-year old’s)

3 special events per year, usually term 2, 3 and 4

4-Year-old kinder: $100 per year

Red (4-year old’s) and Blue Group

4 special events per year (1 per term)

Payment for Special Events

Special event are paid for when you commence at OCK.  If you are eligible for a concession you do not pay for any special events.  As special events are paid for per group, so no refund is given for children who do not attend specific events.

For easier administration, OCK will transfer each family’s enrolment deposit across to pay for their special events and refund any surplus funds back to each family.  For example, if you attend 3 year old kinder in the green group, your special events total $75.  This means $25 from your enrolment deposit of $100 is due back to you.

Concessions

There are various fee concessions/subsidy programs available for qualifying families.  Due to free kinder in 2023 these concessions do not apply to fees; however, they do apply to the cost of special events. Your child is eligible for the kindergarten fee subsidy:
